Dodge Data & Analytics’ Sweets College Scholarship Program Announces First Winner

Annual Sweets scholarship helps students pursue a career in architecture, design, engineering or construction

Dodge Data & Analytics’ Sweets College Scholarship Program has selected Lais Weba, an interior design student at Virginia Tech, as the first winner of the $2,500 Sweets scholarship. Lais’ winning submission was chosen from a large number of creative videos uploaded by students who took their viewers on a tour of their favorite campus buildings from a design perspective.

“Sweets has had a rich impact on the design and construction industry over the last 112 years, so offering assistance in the form of Sweets scholarships to cultivate the next generation of architects, designers and engineers is natural for us,” said Mike Petrullo, Chief Executive Officer, Dodge Data & Analytics. “The creativity and passion of these students is inspiring and will ultimately be a great asset to our industry. Thank you to all those who put in the effort to apply, and congratulations to Lais on her winning entry.”

With more than 350,000 registered users and 100,000 product listings, Sweets is the industry’s focal point for connecting architects, designers and specifiers with building product manufacturers to bring project designs off the screen and into the real world. A focus on digital integration – including, BIM objects, plug-ins for AutoCAD and Revit, and the soon-to-launch Sweets Resource Hub, which will feature continuing education courses, webinars, tutorials, videos, and other digital content – make Sweets a primary resource for design and construction professionals.

Applications are now being accepted for the 2018 Sweets College Scholarship. To apply, students are asked to produce a short video, describing their favorite building on campus from a design perspective and, for bonus points, to name building products that stand out in the design and/or mention Sweets by name.
