With tradeshow season in full swing, and the behemoth ConExpo nearing on the horizon, manufacturers of access equipment are showcasing their most recent introductions, as well as promoting established products to an industry of equipment rental professionals hungry for economic recovery and all that it promises.

Following are some of what leading suppliers have to offer, from push-around scissors to a truck-mounted under-bridge access platform. And while there's still a long way to go in getting construction back on track, there's no doubt that wherever it begins, your customers will need access.

JLG 340AJ

The lower cost of ownership and acquisition cost, coupled with its reach and terrainability, make the 340AJ boom lift ideal for rental companies. The 340AJ has a lift height of 34 feet, 20 feet of horizontal reach and a 17-foot up-and-over reach with a low gross vehicle weight of 9,700 lbs. In addition, the 340AJ features steel hoods to increase its durability, which benefits rental companies as it reduces the cost of ownership and provides improved long-term value. The 340AJ boasts a 500-pound capacity, and meets sustainability regulations with its environmentally friendly T 4 diesel engine. A gas/liquid propane engine is also available.

Aichi SV-Series Scissor Lifts

Aichi's SV-Series scissor lifts feature an industry-exclusive AC drive system to provide leading performance with minimum service requirements. This industry-first drive system features no directional contactors or wearable parts, thus reducing planned maintenance. Because there are fewer moving parts maintenance is simpler, and access is made easier for inspections to keep customers working longer. The standard 90-degree steering angle makes it simple to maneuver in tight workspaces and the SV-Series features an extra-long 39-inch extension platform for increased productivity. Loading is easy with compact stowed height as low as 5'7" with the fold-down handrail option (standard on the SV1530C, SV1930C and SV2632C). Batteries are housed in a single, easy to slide out side compartment, making access effortless, plus, the hydraulic section is fully accessible, keeping service time to a minimum.

Snorkel Speed Level

The new Snorkel Speed Level series combines the large deck and lift capacity of a diesel scissor lift with improved rough-terrain capabilities. By using dual-oscillating axles, the Speed Level automatically self-levels on most sloping or uneven ground, without the need for stabilizers. This allows for faster deployment and - unlike a scissor lift - the Speed Level can be driven at full height. The three-speed gearbox and powerful 4x4 drive help operators traverse difficult terrain with ease. Available in two models: SL26SL with 26-ft. platform height and the SL30SL with 30-ft- platform height.

Haulotte LiteRiser 10SP

The new LiteRiser 10 SP offers versatility in the indoor small machine market and is ideal for maintenance and indoor construction applications. The LiterRiser 10 SP is a self-propelled aerial work platform that offers 16 feet of working height for the indoor market. A maximum width of only 2 feet 8 inches allows for access in the narrow spaces larger machines are unable to access without sacrificing workability. With a full-length platform, a simple-to-use drive control system with adjustable parameters, and zero inside turning radius, this machine is a great addition to any rental fleet. The versatile LiteRiser 10 SP allows for more stability and work area than a ladder, is less hassle than scaffolding, and can be maneuvered at full working height so there is no up-and-down to help make work more efficient.

Skyjack SJ 46AJ

Skyjack's 46-foot SJ 46AJ articulating boom lift features a jib, 360-degree continuous turret rotation, zero tail swing, axle-based 4WD system offering superior positive traction and terrainability, as well as Skyjack's unique direction-sensing drive and steer controls. Analog-based controls, true vertical rise with riser function and Skyjack's standard color coded and numbered wiring system, compliment the SJ 46A/AJ robust design features.

Genie RT69 Scissor Lifts

Three new Genie Rough Terrain (RT) Scissor Lifts have been redesigned with increased horsepower and standard front-oscillating axles for improved performance on tough jobsites. Specifically, the entire RT69 family has been enhanced with new engines that increase horsepower by up to 30 percent, increased platform work space, and a simplified link stack. The new design enables all three models to drive and function at full height while the increased power and terrainability enable the machines to drive through sand or mud and over curbs with ease.

"The new Genie RT69 scissors series provides several new features that are instrumental for jobsite performance and truly benefit the end user," says Jeff Weido, senior product manager, Terex Aerial Work Platforms (AWP). "Most significant is the introduction of the industry's first 40-ft. full drive-height scissor - the Genie GS-4069 RT, which also offers improved lifting capacity and increased platform work space. The new standard front-oscillating axle, improved serviceability and 30-percent increase in power from dual fuel engines will be significant to the rental industry."

Terex Hydra Platforms HPT Truck-Mounted Under-Bridge Access Platform

The new Terex Hydra Platforms HPT 11/38 truck-mounted under-bridge access platform from Terex Roadbuilding is the company's first cross model, matching the trailer platform with a truck chassis. Weighing less than 26,001 lbs., the new HPT 11/38 truck-mounted model does not require a CDL license to operate.

"An operator needs only a regular state-issued driver's license to drive the HPT 11/38," says Mark Duckwall, sales manager, under-bridge access platforms for Terex Roadbuilding. "This makes it much more convenient for the contractor to transport, and it's an ideal unit for the rental industry."

The new HPT 11/38 features a 38-ft. long and maximum 42-in. wide telescoping platform. Its platform weight capacities of 1,000 lbs. total and 500 lbs. at the end of the platform are enough to securely accommodate multiple workers with tooling. Offering a maximum 16-ft. lowering depth and 180-degree rotation, this under-bridge access platform is perfect for applications ranging from bridge inspection and restoration to stripping operations and utility work.
