The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) is taking its "Spread the load" safety campaign to the Intermat construction show, which runs from April 16 to 21 in Paris, France. IPAF is a not-for-profit members' organization that promotes the safe and effective use of powered access equipment worldwide.

The "Spread the load" campaign calls for the proper assessment of ground conditions when using mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs) and the correct use of stabilizers, outriggers and spreader plates to prevent unnecessary accidents that cause some fatalities each year. Safety messages will be illustrated in an artistic and dynamic way at IPAF's INTERMAT stand (Outdoor Area E2, Stand B064), and visitors can look forward to learning about the effective use of MEWPs while taking in the color and spectacle. Also on hand will be a full range of technical guidance, videos, stickers and posters, also available at www.ipaf.org/spreaders.

During INTERMAT, IPAF will be featuring its worldwide campaign to collate reports on all known MEWP accidents or incidents at www.ipaf.org/accident. This is part of the Federation's recently launched incident database to systematically collect worldwide data on accidents/incidents involving MEWPs, with the aim of improving the safe use of equipment.
