Lowe's Deploys Tool Rental Disaster Response Trailers After Hurricane Ida

Hard-to-find generators, water pumps, high velocity fans, electric and gas saws, and other critical tools and equipment are now available to rent to help people get safely back into their homes and get their businesses up and running.

Residents and home improvement professionals in Houma, Louisiana, have a new resource in their disaster recovery efforts. Lowe's has deployed a first-of-its-kind Lowe’s Tool Rental Disaster Response Trailer for the first time ever in the United States. The mobile unit is currently in operation at the Lowe’s store in Houma.

Affordable and hard-to-find generators, water pumps, high velocity fans, electric and gas saws, and other critical tools and equipment are now available to rent from 8 AM to 4 PM to help people get safely back into their homes and get their businesses up and running. 

“We want to be there for our customers when they need us most, with the right rental equipment to help them rebuild their homes and communities,” said Shannon Tucker, vice president, Pro. “I am grateful for the associates from our Tool Rental business that have volunteered to travel to Louisiana to staff the trailer at Lowe’s store #596 in Houma and serve our customers and associates that have been hit hard by this devastating storm.” 

Partners include Bosch, Husqvarna, Tsurumi, FNA- Simpson, GNE – Honda, Xpower, Metabo, Werner, VP Racing Fuels, SmartEquip, AT&T, LiveView, and Point of Rental.

  • Lowe’s announced they're donating $2 million to support Ida relief efforts and sending associate volunteers to help communities recover.
  • Lowe’s has delivered more than 14,000 disaster relief buckets and hosted 20 drive-through store bucket brigade events to help communities affected by Ida. Buckets are filled with items such as goggles, respirators, sanitizer, bug spray, water, scrub brushes, bleach, and work gloves.
  • Lowe’s first wave of 240 emergency response associates landed in Louisiana in early September and are now providing additional customer support and relief for associates. Another 240 specially trained associates arrive in Louisiana this week, and a third wave will arrive in early October.
  • Lowe’s doubled the company’s match through the Lowe’s Employee Relief Fund, contributing $2 for every dollar an employee donates. In the first week, the fund helped more than 450 associates with over $750,000 in financial assistance.
