Does Your Company Volunteer in Your Community?

April 7 starts National Volunteer Week, a great motivator for your company to volunteer and thank other volunteers

National Volunteer Week is an opportunity to recognize and thank volunteers who lend their time, talent, voice and support to causes they care about in their community and around the world.

April 7 through April 13 is National Volunteer Week. This is a week observed in many countries. It has been observed for over 40 years. It is a time set aside to celebrate the impact of volunteers and volunteer service.

There are a few different ways construction companies can get involved in National Volunteer Week. First, if you have any employees who donate their time to volunteer for anything make sure to take some time to recognize and thank them this week. Maybe even do it publicly so their colleagues can take the chance to thank them as well.

Another way to get involved in National Volunteer Week goes beyond just recognizing those who volunteer. Why don’t you, your employees and your coworkers make an effort to volunteer this week. There are so many different volunteer opportunities available in every community. Either pick one you feel a strong connection to, or, use this week to poll your employees and coworkers about what volunteer opportunities they would like to participate in.

Do You Have Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives?

Then after National Volunteer Week pick the volunteer opportunity that had the most votes, organize your volunteers and go out and volunteer as a company. Consider that this would require either time from your employees’ workday or some of their personal time so plan appropriately.

You might even find your employees like to represent their company through volunteerism. That is good for the community, the company and your employees and coworkers.

So get out and volunteer, and remember to thank other volunteers while you’re at it.

Just for fun
