Search and you shall find

The Buyer's Guide promises to make your Internet research easier.

It would be nearly impossible to find someone these days who hasn't used Google to search the Internet. I think it's safe to say that Google is perceived as the Cadillac of search engines, the go-to site for help in finding whatever it is you're looking for.

That being said, Google is not perfect. For those of us who are functional on the Internet but maybe not supremely efficient, we can quickly find ourselves in over our heads in the sea of information Google sends up. Unless you know all the tricks to fine-tuning an Internet search - and there are many - you could end up with a lot of stuff you don't want.

Enter the Buyer's Guide, soon to be launched by Cygnus Business Media. This industry-specific search engine can give you the best results with the least amount of effort when searching for products relating to construction. For example, say you're investigating what the market has to offer in the way of grapple attachments for your excavator fleet. Because you've heard that the most effective means of searching is to cast the widest net, you type "grapples" into Google. The first 10 results direct you to a wealth of information about "Grapples," which are a brand of grape-flavored apples, but nothing at all about grapple attachments. Even more extreme would be if you typed in "belts" on Google. You'll get everything from men's and women's apparel to seatbelt safety to chastity belts. You won't, however, find anything at all relating to parts for construction equipment. Can you imagine what you'd find if you typed in "floor strippers"? (Actually, I tried it and, to my chagrin, you do find a lot of floor care equipment!)

By making the FCP Buyer's Guide your go-to source for information on construction-related products, you speed up your research efforts and gather more high-quality information in a much more efficient manner. And isn't that what we're all looking for? The ability to do more with less and to do it faster is the key to success.

As of this writing, the Buyer's Guide is slated to be launched this month. We've worked very hard to make this new search tool intuitive, effective, efficient and above all else, productive. So, if you're curious, visit our website at Play around with it and see how easy it is to get the best information, specifically tailored to your needs.

The Internet has such a presence in our everyday lives now that it's hard to believe 10 years ago, most of us still didn't use it regularly. Now, we can't imagine getting along without it. Fortunately, the tools we use to get the information we need are getting better all the time, allowing us to become more proficient, more productive and ultimately, more profitable.
