CA Lawmakers Reject Bill Requiring Contractors Disclose Building Defects

While original proposal failed, bill now becomes a two-year bill allowing more time to refine the proposal

In a 7-3 vote, California lawmakers voted against passage of a bill requiring construction companies to disclose felony convictions and settlements to state regulators over construction defects.

Authored by Democratic senators Jerry Hill of San Mateo and Loni Hancock of Oakland, SB465 now becomes a two-year bill which will provide its backers more time to refine the proposal.
