NYC Construction Employment Reaches 40-year High

New York City construction employment has reached its highest level in more than four decades and surpassed the number of jobs created during the 2008 building boom (131,800 jobs). In 2015, NYC recorded 138,200 construction jobs — a 7% increase (9,100 jobs) from 2014 — and marked the fourth consecutive year of construction job growth in the city.

The New York Building Congress is predicting further job growth in 2016 to 147,100 jobs, which would be a 6.4% increase from 2015.

Additionally, the average annual wages for NYC construction workers increased an estimated 3% in 2015 — the largest year-to-year increase since 2008.
