Matt Cash, with Huntley Brothers Co. of Monroe, N.C., and his mason tender, Chet Huntley, edged out the national competition to take home first place in the 2017 Spec Mix Bricklayer 500 with a net count of 716 brick.

Huntley took home Toughest Tender honors in the companion competition.

Established to showcase the skill and craftsmanship of masonry, the Spec Mix Bricklayer 500 requires masons to meet the quality standards of the event. Each mason/tender team has 60 minutes to complete a 26 ft. 8 in., double wythe brick wall. Awards go to the highest net brick count meeting the quality standards, as judged by carefully selected masonry officials with years of bricklaying experience.
