The 13 People Recognized at the ACI 2022 Fall Convention

The American Concrete Institute will recognize the contributions and dedication to the organization and the concrete industry during the ACI Fall 2022 Convention, October 23-27.

In recognition of the outstanding contributions and dedication to the American Concrete Institute, the ACI has announced the individuals being recognized during the ACI Fall 2022 convention, October 23-27 in Dallas. 

The Fall 2022 awardees consist of personal and paper award winners. Medals and awards recognize exemplary achievement, groundbreaking research, and service to ACI and the concrete industry.  Not all awards are presented each year. 

  • The Arthur R. Anderson Medal – Michelle L. Wilson
    Established in 1972, the Arthur R. Anderson Medal recognizes an individual's contributions to the advancement of knowledge of concrete. 
  • The Roger H. Corbetta Concrete Constructor Award – James E. Klinger
    This award is presented to an individual or organization recognizing their significant contributions to the progress in methods of concrete construction. 
  • The Clyde E. Kesler Education Award – Tyler Ley
    Originally named the Joe W. Kelly Award (est. 1974) and renamed in 2022, the Clyde E. Kesler Education Award celebrates a person's contributions to education in the concrete industry. 
  • The Robert F. Mast Award – Miroslav Vejvoda
    Established in 2021, this award is given to an individual recognizing their outstanding contributions to the practical design codes and practices in precast / prestressed concrete.  
  • The Henry C. Turner Medal – Steven H. Kosmatka
    Awarded for the notable achievements or a person's service to the concrete industry. This award is not restricted to members. 
  • The Charles S. Whitney Medal – National Concrete Pavement Technology Center (CP Tech Center)
    Founded in 1961, the Charles S. Whitney Medal recognizes noteworthy engineering development work in concrete design or construction. 
  • The ACI Concrete Sustainability Award – O. Burkan Isgor
    The ACI Concrete Sustainability Award is presented to an individual or team for the contributions in demonstrating or the improvement of concrete's sustainable attributes. 
  • The ACI Education Award – Kimberly Waggle Kramer
    The winner of the ACI Education Award is an individual who made a notable contribution by way of documents, videos, or other products by the Educational Activities Committee. 
  • The Wason Medal for Most Meritorious Paper – Fernando Martirena, Karen Scrivener, Franco Zunino
  • The ACI Symposium Volumes Award – Sarah Bergmann, Manfred Curbach, Josef Hegger, Sebastian May
  • The Wason Medal for Materials Research – Yohan Jacquet, Arnaud Perrot, Vincent Picandet
  • The Mete A. Sozen Award for Excellence in Structural Research – Erick A. Burgos, Mohammad Sajedul Huq, Andrés Lepage, Rémy D. Lequesne
  • The ACI Concrete International Award – Paul Beagley, Tim Manherz, Peter J. Ruttura, Bruce A. Suprenant, Eldon “Tipp” Tipping
