The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) has elected David Robison of Delta Industries, Jackson, MS, as chairman of its Board of Directors. He succeeds Karl Watson, Jr., of Cemex, Inc., Houston, who now serves as immediate past chairman.
Mr. Robison has been with Delta Industries since 1971, holding various management positions. He was named president in 1995. His personal and professional affiliations include past president and director of the Mississippi Concrete Industries Association, chairman of the Business & Industry Political Education Committee, and director of Mississippi Junior Achievement. He is also a past chairman of NRMCA's Government Affairs, PAC and Legal Activities committees and has previously served on the NRMCA Board and Construction Industry Alliances Committee. Mr. Robison earned an associate's degree in business administration from the University of Southern Mississippi.
NRMCA members also elected William Childs, IV, as vice chairman. Mr. Childs has led Chaney Enterprises, Waldorf, MD, since 2000. He joined the company in 1992 as vice president of sales & marketing. He currently serves on NRMCA's Executive Committee and has been very active on numerous committees and association activities for the past several years. He is a member of the Associated Builders and Contractors and a past president of the Maryland Ready Mix Concrete Association. Mr. Childs is a graduate of Lynchburg College in Virginia where he received a bachelor's of science degree in business administration.
For secretary/treasurer, the membership elected Henry (Ric) Suzio. Mr. Suzio has been employed by The L. Suzio Concrete Co., Inc., Meriden, CT, in various sales, dispatch and purchasing roles since 1990. He received a bachelor's of science degree from Springfield College and is the past president of the Connecticut Ready Mixed Concrete Association. Mr. Suzio has served on NRMCA's Concrete Promotion and Developing Industry Leaders committees and has been involved in the Eastern Region promotion activities. He is currently chairman of the Government Affairs Committee.
"We are fortunate to have Dave, Bill and Ric in positions of leadership, both here at NRMCA and also the industry as a whole," said NRMCA President Robert Garbini. "They each bring an extensive history of involvement with NRMCA and will work closely with the Association staff on a variety of projects and issues. I look forward to working with them."
