The Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) – a nonprofit international organization that serves to expand and improve the use of tilt-up as the preferred building system – has announced a complete roster of events for its annual convention, which will be held Sept. 29 - Oct. 1 in San José, Calif.

The TCA’s annual convention, presented by Meadow Burke, has educational opportunities for contractors, engineers, architects, suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, educators and developers from across the globe with an interest in tilt-up construction. A highlight of the event will be the interactive outdoor demonstration – presented by Bradley Concrete, CEMEX and Hub Construction Specialties – which will be held on-site.

“This large scale demonstration will provide attendees with an interactive, hands-on look at the tilt-up process and will incorporate the latest and greatest products and services offered by the industry,” said Mitch Bloomquist, managing director of the TCA.

For designers and engineers, Dayton Superior will provide an education track featuring presentations that address issues surrounding multistory tilt-up in high seismic areas, implications of the new building codes and more.

In addition to the education sessions, convention attendees will have the opportunity to attend an awards gala which will be held on the first evening of the convention. The event, sponsored by Nox-Crete, will honor those organizations, people and projects that have furthered the development and adoption of tilt-up construction. International attendees will be hosted at a dedicated international reception, which will take place in the top of the Transamerica Pyramid in downtown San Francisco, California. The reception is intended to further conversation about the attendees’ markets, their interests and the future of tilt-up.

  • Kim Basham, senior structural engineer for KB Engineering
  • John Lawson, assistant professor at California Polytechnic State University
  • James Baty, technical director at the Tilt-Up Concrete Association
