GOMACO University is proud to once again offer courses dealing specifically with concrete mix design and how it affects slipform paving projects. This year’s courses will be taught by guest instructor Dr. Michael Ayers, who is well known in the concrete paving industry for his knowledge on concrete mixes.

Concrete Mix Design 1: January 29-30 and March 12-13. This two-day class will focus on the basics of concrete mix design as well as more advanced topics including cement types and application, aggregates, admixtures and optimizing the mix for paving applications. Troubleshooting will look at material incompatibility issues, edge slump, bugholes and other mix related issues and how the mix affects rideability.

Concrete Mix Design 2: January 31 - February 2 and March 14-16. This two-day class will begin with a brief review of concrete mix design and paving issues related to the concrete mix. The course will then focus on achieving specified values for strength and durability and an overview of basic concrete field and lab test procedures. More advanced test procedures will likely be included as part of upcoming changes in specifications including maturity, chloride resistivity, calorimetry and numerous others will be covered concrete mixes.

GOMACO University is also committed to 3D guidance paving education and offers courses customized to each of the three major 3D system suppliers.
