Precision-Hayes International, global provider of concrete construction products and solutions, announces the signing of an exclusive license agreement with Seoul National University, Dr. Thomas Kang, and Total PS Co., Ltd. This license grants Precision-Hayes International the rights to produce and sell new-to-market “smart” stressing devices in North and South America, EMEAI, and select markets in APAC. The technology behind the devices has the potential to be an industry game changer by simplifying, automating, and significantly improving the accuracy of measuring, recording, and verifying elongations.

Current methods used involve long, manual processes. Often, they require multiple people and can take several days to complete. The inherent risk of these labor-intensive processes is the accuracy of the data being recorded.

The new technology will use cutting edge measuring equipment to record elongation. Proprietary algorithms will run calculations and the data will be automatically uploaded and stored for later access. These technology breakthroughs will simplify current methods, and significantly improve the accuracy of data collected. Ultimately, this will contribute to improved structural integrity of the infrastructure being post-tensioned.

“As an industry expert and leader in product innovation, we are excited by this opportunity to change the industry paradigm and enhance our value proposition to our customers,” says Chris Mitchell, Vice President & General Manager. “Over the next several months our new product development team will work with other Actuant businesses, leveraging existing resources, to bring to market a “smart” stressing system with a jack and pump as well as a data management platform.”
