The VM117D is powered by the Tier 4i JCB Ecomax engine delivering 125hp (93 kW). Combining a wealth of compaction experience at JCB, along with market-leading components from JCB Power Systems, the launch heralds a new generation of soil compaction equipment from JCB.

Key features include:

  • Tier 4 Interim JCB Ecomax engines delivering up to 10% fuel savings
  • No DPF for low cost of ownership along with no downtime for regeneration
  • Smooth drum or pad-foot models available for compaction of all soil types
  • Several Compaction Analysis Systems available as options for the VM117
  • All-round visibility and serviceability

Improved Soil Compaction Solution

The VM117D has an operating weight of 11 tons and comes equipped  standard with a smooth drum.  Padfoot version is available along with an optional leveling blade.  This single drum vibratory compactor has been developed for a wide range of compaction applications in all kinds of road building and infrastructure projects. For operation in cohesive soil, the pad foot version is available, or the standard smooth drum can be equipped with a two piece shell kit for increased versatility.

Significant enhancements have been made to the compaction specifications; including amplitude, frequency, centrifugal force, static linear load and weight distribution, resulting in fewer passes being required to achieve the material density requirements.

JCB’s Automatic Vibration Control (AVC) automatic compaction control system, which avoids over-compaction at the end of each pass, is a standard feature of the VM117D. A comprehensive range of compaction recording systems (Comptronic) is also available, from a basic compaction control system to a sophisticated compaction analysis system, which combines with GPS tracking and a printer function to document the entire project.

The spacious cab delivers an excellent level of visibility to the rear of the machine and to the drum edges. The excellent visibility increases operational safety, especially when working in confined areas and improves productivity. Significantly reduced noise levels make the VM117D the quietest compactors in the JCB line-up.

Robust durability and ease of serviceability has been further improved in the new generation of machines, thanks to a simplified single-piece exciter system, robust IP69 standard electrical systems, a maintenance-free center joint, pre-loaded rubber mountings and all service check points easily accessible from ground level.
