Volvo has entered the 50-ton class for excavators with the EC530E and EC550E, which it says have digging and lifting forces normally found in 60-ton machines.
According to the company, the EC530E is a true 50-ton excavator. Providing "the durability you would expect from a 60-tonner," this machine delivers 25% more fuel efficiency and 20% more productivity. Featuring new generation electrohydraulics, reliability and enhanced operator comfort, the unit is suited for heavy-duty digging, mass excavation and large site preparation.
Both the EC530E and EC550E are reported to feature the highest engine power in the class, providing high tractive force and swing torque. When coupled with large buckets, they are well-suited to fill articulated haulers in the 30- to 40-ton class with fewer passes to load them and reduced cycle times. The result is up to 20% more productivity.
