CLEARWATER, FL (OCTOBER 26, 2011) — Atlantic Concrete Cutting, Inc. of Mount Holly, N.J., became the first contractor to achieve the highest level of certification available — considered ISO 9001:2008 compliant—through a recently-launched company certification program.
The Concrete Sawing & Drilling Association (CSDA) confirms that the contractor is the first member company to achieve Level 3 of the CSDA Company Certification Program. This 3-tier program, the first of its kind in the industry, has been created for cutting contractors to provide owners, architects, engineers, general contractors and government officials with a valuable pre-qualification tool that acknowledges sound business practices.
Atlantic Concrete Cutting was founded in 1991 by Nancy and Doug Walker. The couple worked out of their garage, cutting concrete during the day and preparing estimates at night. Today, the company has 22 concrete cutting operators, 31 trucks and has support operations in Totowa, N.J., and Spring City, Pa. The company serves several states in the Northeast U.S. and offers the services of sawing and core drilling, highway grinding and grooving, joint sealing, selective demolition work and scanning with ground penetrating radar.
Atlantic Concrete Cutting has been a member of CSDA for 20 years, and Nancy and Doug continue to be active in the association. Doug recently served as CSDA President from 2009 to 2011 and is an active member of several committees. The company also has several employees who have achieved operator certification through CSDA, and holds DBE / WBE certifications issued by numerous state agencies and authorities.
"We are extremely proud to be awarded CSDA Level 3 Certification", said Nancy, president and owner of Atlantic Concrete Cutting. "CSDA is to be commended for its efforts and initiative to create a comprehensive company certification program for our industry."
Level 3 provides potential customers with proof that a company has a total Quality Management System in place, and that the contractor is committed to a high standard of safety, training and sound business practices. Level 3 includes an audit with standards equivalent to the internationally-recognized ISO9000 certification scheme, plus other industry-specific requirements.
The CSDA Company Certification Program provides specifiers with a pre-qualification assurance that hiring a certified company will eliminate risks associated with hiring a cutting contractor whose capabilities are unknown. The CSDA Company Certification Program is available to all sawing and drilling contractors.
