McLaughlin's Steerable Rock System (SRS) allows operators to maneuver auger boring machines in tough ground conditions for an on-grade bore.

  • Bore in solid and fractured rock ground conditions
  • Operate in rock up to 25,000 psi
  • Half-open faced design allows fractured rock to be pulled into cutting head where it is crushed or swallowed; creates a consistent boring path
  • System of disc cutters and rock picks navigate varying rock conditions
  • Disc cutters designed to break up solid rock as they rotate
  • Rock picks pull remaining fractured rock disc cutters could not disperse
  • Full-rotational turntable eliminates need for a single main bearing 
  • Automatic grease system constantly lubricates turntable
  • Four steering flaps hydraulically actuated allow head to stay on grade
  • Built-in water level monitors grade throughout the bore
  • Two halogen lights in control station indicate lateral (left and right) steering head movements
  • Self-contained control station regulates movement of steering head and all hydraulic, water and electrical lines
  • Compatible with any make or model of auger boring machine with necessary torque requirements
  • Available in sizes 36 to 60 in.
