A Change for the Better

Equipment Today magazine, the leading equipment information resource for the construction industry, has launched a redesign featuring a new logo and a new overall look.

They say you can't judge a book by its cover, but in the case of Equipment Today, I'd like to think you can. Over the past few issues, we've been incorporating more information on the cover about what you'll find inside. And now, with this issue, we've introduced a new logo, plus significant internal changes meant to keep up with a rapidly changing media environment.

Let's face it -- we're in a digital age with constant demands on our attention. Anything that can save time and energy, while still providing the quality and results you need, is a refreshing change of pace. Such is the mind-set behind the changes you'll find over the following pages.

For several years, we've been exploring new ways to reach out to our readers via the Internet, e-newsletters, webinars, video, social media (you can friend us on Facebook, or follow us at Twitter.com/EquipmentToday), etc. But unlike some naysayers, we firmly believe that print is not dead. That's why we've spent several weeks investigating ways to produce a print product that not only delivers the equipment-related information you need, but presents it in a manner that is visually more appealing and faster to read.

Of course, change is only good if it actually works in the manner intended. Fortunately, our studies show that Equipment Today's new type style increases readability by up to 25%. That means you can spend less time absorbing the contents on the page and more time applying that knowledge in your business.

In addition, our highly talented designer (and this month's cover photographer), David Haglund, along with new Cygnus creative director, J-C Suares (whose experience includes award-winning work on such publications as Inc, Shape and Fast Company, among others), have collaborated to give you even more of what you had before -- big pictures and more products highlighting the features and benefits of the equipment essential to your business. Their intention is to take better advantage of its tabloid size to transform Equipment Today into an even more powerful tool to explore the available equipment options for your fleet.

The changes to Equipment Today are a work in progress and will continue to evolve over the coming months. In the meantime, I encourage your feedback. You can reach me at [email protected], or (800) 547-7377. I look forward to hearing from you!
