“Almost as Busy as We Can Be." This comment comes from Nathan Miles, general manager for Terry’s Equipment Sales & Rental in Cumming, GA, and it paints a good picture. Located some 35 miles north of Atlanta, the store is taking advantage of robust construction in both the residential and commercial market and what Miles terms “a tremendous amount of business from area landscapers.”

“Business was good last year, but even better this year,” said Miles. “Nothing in our rental inventory has really exceeded our expectations, but popular items such as mini skid-steer loaders are back on the floor only long enough for us to maintain and grease them and out the door they go.” He noted that tow-behind lifts, dump trailers, and 6- and 12-inch chippers are also in high demand.

Terry’s Equipment Sales & Rental opened in 2001. In  addition to having an extensive rental inventory of tools and equipment, it also sells Hustler zero-turn mowers and Rex Max hand-held equipment. Both lines are doing well, too, Miles added, noting that this will likely be the company’s best year for mower sales.

“The rental, sales, and service traffic keep our six full-time and two part-time employees busy for all but 2 ½ months out of the year. The slow time, which lasts from around Thanksgiving to February, gives us time to readjust the showroom and shop area and make needed repairs on equipment. There’s enough work between preparing for next season and winter rental sales to give our full-time people year-around work, something that’s key to finding and keeping employees who want to have a career within the rental industry.”
