Equipment rental businesses are known to be problem solvers. Contractors and DIYers alike come in needing equipment and tools for a project, expecting their local rental shop to have the right item, ready, and available. The growth of the attachment market has increased the complexity of the equipment rental fleet. On the dealer side, OEMs are demanding more integrated supplier support, not just for equipment but for complementary parts, specialized attachments, tooling, and value-added services.
TOKU, a manufacturer of construction and hydraulic breakers, notes that the global market for hydraulic breakers was valued at $3.6 billion in 2025 and projected to reach $4.89 billion by 2030. (The U.S. accounting for nearly 27 percent of this global share.) Because they enhance the efficiency, safety, and versatility for customers, the value of hydraulic attachments is just one critical component of the equipment rental market.
Attachments like hydraulic breakers, shears, crushers, grapples, and multi-processors enable contractors to handle a wide range of materials (concrete, steel, rock) without switching equipment. In fact, advanced attachments improve efficiency by 55 percent and reduce downtime by 30 percent through better tool integration and automation. This versatility allows dealers to offer one-stop solutions for a myriad of demolition needs.
TOKU’s FPV Series was designed to handle secondary demolition operations in heavy-duty industries like mining, construction, and recycling.TOKU America Inc.
Beyond its suite of specialized attachments, TOKU has opted to continue to mirror the “one-stop-shop” model, where manufacturers consolidate offerings across materials and functions to streamline sourcing and reduce coordination costs. The company provides training support for dealers such as sales, service, and specialty field personnel to monitor issues such as proper oil flow on equipment to ensure they run at optimal levels.
As your hydraulic attachment fleet grows, keep maintenance efforts and repair in mind – the fewer parts, the easier they tend to be to maintain in operation and back at the shop.
Secondary hydraulic breaker tools are designed and engineered to safely and efficiently break down or remove structures, buildings, or materials while preparing the site for new construction, renovation, or redevelopment.
Considering many customers often neglect to properly grease assets auto lubrication systems are ideal for the equipment rental industry. These systems are available on machine and hammer-mounted attachments.
Applications for Hydraulic Attachments
- Crushers — Feature two cylinders closing two jaws, primarily used in demolition situations (Note that a crusher and pulverizer are job-specific.)
- Pulverizer or Secondary Crusher — Similar to crushers except a pulverizer reduces material into smaller pieces; these attachments can be instrumental for recycling and removing rebar from concrete, designed for groundwork, recycling, and material transport
- Scrap Shears — Designed for cutting iron structures, steel, pipes, and tanks with high-cutting force for their weight.
- Striker Hammers — Designed for light and heavy-duty concrete and hard rock demo, these attachments are available to fit any carrier from 1 to 70+ ton machines
Questions
As always, ask. Having a conversation with customers to learn about their project at hand will help you steer them in the right direction to the right attachment to match the equipment they’ll need.
Here are some questions to get the ball rolling. Your customer may not have the people on hand for the work and different attachments can help in different ways. They may also have other machines involved.
- What are you trying to accomplish on this particular job?
- What is your budget for the job? This rental?
- How are you looking to accomplish the task at hand?
- Do you have people to help?
- Are you using multiple machines or just one? Accounting for how many machines (and types) the customer plans on using for the job may affect attachment options. The more attachments that fit a particular machine, the fewer machines and people needed, which may allow other crews and machines to be elsewhere generating revenue and increasing margins.
Keep learning. The best way to be the problem solver that equipment rentals are is to understand the situation at hand as best as possible.
