Milton "Milt" Neumann died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010. Neumann was the founder and longtime CEO of A to Z Rentals, based in Spokane, WA. He served as president of the American Rental Association (ARA) in 1983.

Neumann first became aware of equipment rental when he was visiting his brother in Overland Park, MO. He saw two workers trying to start a compressor and discovered that the compressor had been rented. When he returned home to Bismarck, ND, he spoke with the owners of the local rental store, which had been open for about four months and was failing. So, he and his wife Alice went to the bank, borrowed $15,000 and bought the business.
