IPAF members are encouraged to respond to the next stage of the public review open for comments on the proposed A92 Suite of Standards.
Proposed standards BSR/SAIA A92.22: Safe Use of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) and BSR/SAIA A92.24: Training Requirements for the Use, Operation, Inspection, Testing and Maintenance of Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) are now open for a second public review period, owing to significant changes following the first public review.
Tony Groat, IPAF North America Manager is chair of the A92.22 safe use subcommittee and an active member on the other two subcommittees – A92.20 Design and A92.24 Training. He is also chair of a working group reviewing and standardising definitions across the three standards.
He comments: “As ever, IPAF is closely involved in the development and implementation of rigorous industry standards and the wide-scale adoption of harmonised language across country standards when possible; we would invite our members to make their comments on the draft revisions at this time.
“Members should focus solely on the language that has been changed following the initial public comment process; general comments on language of the standards that has not been changed following the first public comment review will likely be taken into account during the drafting and revision of future versions of the standards.
“IPAF is determined that as an industry we should devise and adopt clear and safe standards globally; this process is just one part of the ongoing process to drive up standards around the world, so it’s important engaged industry stakeholders get involved while drafts and revisions are open for public consultation.”
