The shortlist for this year’s International Awards for Powered Access (IAPAs) has been revealed, following the judges’ meeting on Feb. 7 in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

This year’s awards ceremony is hosted in the UK and winners will be announced at the dinner and awards gala dinner on April 4 at the Hilton London Wembley hotel.

Jointly organized by Access International and IPAF, the IAPAs celebrate global best practice and excellence in the powered access industry. More than 100 entries across 13 award categories were received for this year’s edition of the prestigious awards.

“As ever the entries received were of the highest quality; narrowing down the shortlist for each category was a difficult task in itself,” says Euan Youdale, editor of Access International and non-voting chairman of the judges. “The judges spent considerable time discussing and evaluating the merits of each submission, and we thank them for their efforts. We congratulate all shortlisted nominees and wish them the very best of luck for the final awards ceremony.”

The independent and impartial judges make their decisions based on the merit of each entry and are excluded from entering their company for any awards. The judges thank all those who took part and would like to encourage everyone in the industry to consider entering again for the awards in 2018.

The independent judging panel was a combination of IPAF member companies and non-members:

  • Andy Studdert, CEO of US-based NES Rentals, and IPAF president;
  • Eline Oudenbroek, managing director of Holland Lift, based in the Netherlands;
  • Kai Schliephake, managing director of PartnerLift, a Germany-based consortium of access rental companies;
  • Mike Evans, retired access industry veteran in the UK, and former winner of the IAPAs Lifetime Achievement Award;
  • Rick Mustillo, founder of Kookaburra Equipment Sales and president of Australia’s Elevating Work Platform Association;
  • Non-voting chair: Euan Youdale, editor of Access International magazine.
