[VIDEO] VMAC Adds New Options to Multifunction Power Systems Product Line

VMAC unveiled new developments for its multifunction power systems including one powered by a Cat engine, a 5-in-1 multifunction power system powered by a Honda engine, and an HVAC cooling system that will cool a truck cab without running the truck engine

VMAC took the opportunity at the 2019 International Construction & Utility Equipment Exposition (ICUEE) to introduce its newest product developments for its multifunction power systems.

5-in-1 Multifunction Power System with Honda Engine

The first introduction is a new prototype concept, a 5-in-1 Multifunction Power System with a Honda engine. The new VMAC Multifunction Power System includes everything needed for heavy-duty mechanic work in a single powerful system. The 5-in-1 components consist of a rotary screw air compressor, generator, welder, battery booster/charger and cold climate kit.

“Our new Multifunction concept with a Honda engine offers greater power and a smarter design,” said Mike Pettigrew, VMAC’s Marketing Manager. “We took all the best parts of a traditional gas and diesel multi-power systems and then made it better. Operators with gas vehicles will get more value from our new 5-in-1 Multifunction.”

VMAC’s new Multifunction concept is powered by a Honda iGX800 V-twin gas engine, provides up to 40 cfm at 100 psi of compressed air and 8kW of electric power at 100% duty cycle, and up to 250A of welding capability. The system allows operators to use just one function or all five simultaneously.

Like all VMAC Multifunction Power Systems, the 5-in-1 reduces idling by allowing operators to turn off their truck engines at the jobsite. Minimized idling helps reduce noise on the jobsite, reduce fuel costs, and reduce operating hours and engine wear on the vehicle.

“We have had a really positive response to our new gas-powered Multifunction,” said Gord Duval, VP of Marketing & Sales at VMAC. “Many of our customers already love Honda engines because they are powerful and reliable, and it’s our pleasure to develop another product that’s officially Powered by Honda.”

VMAC expects to release the 5-in-1 Multifunction with a Honda engine into production in 2020.

Multifunction Power System with CAT Engine

VMAC has released a 6-in-1 Multifunction Power System with a Caterpillar engine, which is now available to CAT dealers and other customers across North America.

The CAT variation of VMAC’s Multifunction was engineered by VMAC specially for CAT mechanics, after receiving a request from Finning, the world’s largest Caterpillar equipment dealer.  Finning’s global Sustainability Policy demonstrates their commitment to people, safety, environment, product stewardship, communities and ethics and governance.

“Finning approached our team to help them accomplish their sustainability goals, and asked us to create a variation of our Multifunction Power System that used a Caterpillar engine,” said Gord Duval, VP of Marketing & Sales at VMAC. “We have worked with Finning for more than 20 years and are always happy to collaborate on innovative new products.”

This latest VMAC Multifunction has a C1.1 industrial diesel engine, which provides additional benefits beyond the typical multi-power system. The C1.1 utilizes lower engine speeds, which reduces noise, and is easy to maintain due to single-side servicing.

The C1.1 also requires less maintenance and only needs to be serviced every 500 hours. This lengthy service interval is notable when compared to the 100-200 hour service intervals that are typical with other small industrial engines.

“The new Multifunction with CAT Power is the perfect example of how our partnership can lead to fantastic new products. You don’t need to be affiliated with Caterpillar to appreciate and enjoy the benefits of this system,” Duval said.

VMAC’s Multifunction with CAT Power can be ordered through any one of VMAC’s 300+ dealers across the globe.

HVAC Cooling System for Multifunction Power Systems

VMAC plans to formally release its new HVAC Cooling System for VMAC Multifunction in 2020, enabling its proven 6-in-1 multi-power system to provide truck cab cooling. The HVAC Cooling System for VMAC Multifunction will help reduce idling and provide operators with relief from high temperatures: simply turn on the air conditioning when it's hot — without running the truck's engine — and enjoy the comforts of a climate-controlled cab.

“While VMAC’s Multifunction system is designed to reduce idling, many end-users still idle their vehicles on hot days so they can use their cab’s air conditioning,” said Mike Pettigrew, VMAC’s Marketing Manager. “The new HVAC Cooling System allows operators to use their VMAC Multifunction and turn off their truck engines in hot weather, without compromising on personal comfort.”

This brand new HVAC Cooling System is the best solution for fleet managers who want to eliminate truck idling on the job site and reduce operating costs, while still providing operators with the comfort and safety of a climate-controlled truck cab.

Some additional benefits of VMAC’s Multifunction with the HVAC Cooling System include:

  • Reduce fuel consumption — save up to $5,800 per year in fuel costs
  • Reduce operating costs and improve truck life with lower engine operating hours & engine wear
  • Eliminate noisy idling on the jobsite
  • Minimize environmental impact and decrease carbon footprint

VMAC has been working closely with dealers to develop the HVAC Cooling System after the innovative concept was announced earlier this year. VMAC’s 6-in-1 Multifunction system is already available, while the Multifunction with the HVAC Cooling System is anticipated to release in the spring of 2020.
