Ergodyne has introduced a new Type 2 safety helmet featuring technology from Mips designed to help reduce risks associated with angled impacts on construction jobsites.

According to the companies, traditional Type 1 hard hats are primarily tested for direct impacts to the top of the head, while the new helmet is intended to address rotational motion caused by angled impacts that may contribute to brain injuries.

The helmet features the Mips Evolve Pro system, which is designed with a lighter, more open structure to improve airflow and reduce weight. Ergodyne paired the system with an open-frame helmet design, ventilation features and moisture-wicking padding intended for extended wear during long shifts.

The new model builds on a partnership between Ergodyne and Mips that began in 2021 to bring helmet technology commonly used in cycling and sports applications to industrial and construction safety equipment.

Type 2 safety helmets continue to gain adoption across construction and industrial jobsites as contractors place greater emphasis on head protection and overall worker safety.
