Georgia Boot, a Michelin Safety Footwear company, is known for its heavy-duty boots. The company supports a large line of versatile boots that can be used for all different job sites and environments.
In April, IRONPROS covered Georgia Boot’s new Tough Beyond Dispute (TBD) release. The TBD series included four products with slight differences to better suit separate job sites. Similar to this line, the Georgia Boot Eagle Trail for women has five different versions, each catering toward something individual.
This women’s work boot series consists of the following:
- Eagle Trail Pull-On Boot
- Eagle Trail Pull-On Protective Toe Work Boot
- Eagle Trail Waterproof Hiker Boot
- Eagle Trail Alloy Toe Waterproof Hiker Boot
- Eagle Trail Waterproof Oxford Hiker Boot
IRONPROS got the chance to test out the Eagle Trail Alloy Toe Waterproof Hiker Boot.
How the Boot Worked for Me
To see the true abilities of this boot, I tried them out in a few different settings. The boots held up and did not disappoint. The highlighted features of these boots proved to be quality. Let’s talk about it.
One of the features spotlighted by the Eagle Trail boot I tested was its waterproof exterior, which I tested with a garden hose. Not a single drop of water soaked through, even around the tongue area.
To test out the slip resistance that the boot claims to have, I walked around in thick, fresh mud. While the mud was slick and made it difficult to easily walk around, the boots gave good grip and were able to break away from the mud quickly. This quality of slip-resistant outsoles is essential for construction worksites to help prevent slips from various oils or water spills. As weather can be unpredictable, the ability to walk around more comfortably on wet, muddy, or snowy ground.
The alloy toe protected my foot from impacts when hit into objects and when someone stood on the boot. On the job, objects fall and might land on your feet. This is when it is essential to have protective boots that have a steel toe.
When wearing the boots, my ankle felt supported and my feet were comfortable. Reviews on the Georgia Boot website said to size down. I wasn’t sure if I should size down from my boot size or my shoe size. I chose to go from shoe size and it fit perfectly (I normally wear a size 8.5 women's and I selected a size 8).
The boots provided good comfort for a long walk considering that they hadn’t been broken in yet.
Ready for the Job Site
Although the Georgia Boot Eagle Trail Hiker has hiking in the name, it is well equipped to serve as a light industrial work boot. The boot meets the ASTM F2413 impact and compression standards for safety toe work boots and, since the boot is built with nail-free construction, the ASTM F2413 electrical hazard standards. This sets the Eagle Trail boot as a great option on construction sites and an ideal boot for anyone needing a light industrial boot.
After walking in these boots, even through mud and grass, they were easy to clean and still provided decent comfort right out of the box. Having an alloy toe and waterproof outsides, the Eagle Trail Hiker is a strong competitor in the work boot world.
