New Transmission Line Project Could Create 6,000 Construction Jobs

The SunZia Southwest Transmission Project will tap wind resources in New Mexico and solar and geothermal in New Mexico and Arizona

A $2 billion project to construct a renewable energy transmission line for wind and solar power will support more than 6,000 jobs during construction, according to the Department of the Interior. Overseen by SunZia, the transmission line will be 515 miles across New Mexico and Arizona, and could enable up to 3,000 megawatts of renewable energy, which is enough to power over one million homes.
