Metabo Corporation, an international manufacturer of industrial grade cordless and corded power tools and accessories announces that judging for the 2018 Pro Tool Innovation Awards ended and Metabo’s power tools received several awards.

The Pro Tool Innovation Awards (PTIA) are an annual awards program judged by a panel of professional tradesmen and trade media representatives in the electrical, plumbing, MRO, and concrete fields as well as general contractors and builders. The Pro Tool Innovation Awards seek to discover and recognize the most innovative tools in the residential and commercial construction industry across a wide variety of categories.

Hundreds of power tools, hand tools, fasteners, and accessories were judged, and winners were decided based on industry innovation. Winners demonstrated achievement in any combination of the following: innovative features, advanced power delivery, groundbreaking ergonomics, technological advancements, and value. The Pro Tool Innovation Awards recognize best-in-class products that are truly ahead of their time.

This year, over 60 different tool manufacturers submitted nearly 300 tool entries in dozens of categories for a shot to win a 2018 Pro Tool Innovation Award. Metabo was honored to receive awards for their power tools in the following categories along with outstanding feedback from the judges:

In the category of cordless power tools – batteries, Metabo won an award for the 8.0 Ah and Compact 4.0 Ah batteries. Here's what judges had to say about Metabo’s batteries, “Metabo continues to lead the march in battery technology. Their Li-HD platform is expanding with a 2P 8.0 Ah pack and a 1P 4.0 Ah compact pack. They’re the first to get to those compact sizes, and you can thank 21700 cells for helping make it happen. Pack technology plays into it as well—particularly when keeping the pack cool on aggressive tools. No matter what battery platform you’re using, Metabo is still the one to watch when you want to see where pack technology is heading”.

And in the category of concrete & masonry awards – tuck-pointing/wall chasers, Metabo won an award for the MFE 40 – 5” Wall Chaser.  “Metabo enjoys a fantastic reputation in the grinder sector, making it a natural in tuckpointing and wall chasing as well. Their MFE 40 combines plenty of power in a handheld size to let you cut channels in existing masonry. Excellent build quality is there along with an integrated shroud to keep you in check with OSHA’s updated silica dust regulations”, said Pro Tool Innovation Awards Judges.

Next, in the category of cordless power tools – jig saws, Metabo won an award for the STA 18 LTX 100 18V Cordless Jig Saw. Judges said, “Metabo’s 18V Jig Saw takes advantage of their Li-HD battery technology to give you up to 4″ of cutting capacity. Our team loves the integrated dust collection and that you can get well over 100 linear feet of cutting done with one compact battery pack. Combine it with Metabo’s 18V dust extractor for a 100% cordless solution. Not sure which model to get? Our team like the barrel grip”.

Lastly, in the category of corded power tools – polishers, Metabo won an award for their new PE 15-20 RT Automotive Polisher. Judges commented, “What happens when you take your legendary grinder reputation and task it to developing a polisher specifically for the automotive industry? You get Metabo’s PE 12-20 RT Automotive Polisher. It uses a powerful 13.5-amp motor and lets you dial in speed control between 300 and 1900 RPM. We really like the rat tail design which makes it much easier to use for extended periods of time”.

"Manufacturers are consistently improving their tools. Each year, however, some exceed the norms and develop products which truly deserve recognition. Business owners, builders, contractors, and tradespeople really need to understand which products can help them work smarter and more efficiently," says Clint DeBoer, Executive Director of the Pro Tool Innovation Awards. "Often, they can also save a lot of money in either material costs or time-savings. That innovation goes straight into their pocketbook."
