Volvo Trucks has introduced unattended over-the-air software updates for its connected heavy-duty trucks, allowing fleets to install software updates without requiring driver involvement during the process.
The new capability enables drivers to start an update, secure the vehicle and leave while the software installs in the background. According to Volvo, the feature is designed to help fleets keep trucks up to date while minimizing operational disruptions.

The updates are supported by Volvo's connected 24-volt platform and can be used to update systems such as engine performance, transmission controls and battery management.
Volvo reported that more than 80% of connected trucks operating on its latest software now receive over-the-air updates. The company also said the technology has contributed to a 24% reduction in unplanned stops.
In May, Volvo completed more than 18,000 over-the-air software updates across its connected truck fleet.
