Georgia Governor Nathan Deal has announced a $10 billion, 10-year transportation investment plan that would be financed through a $900 million transportation funding bill passed in 2015. The plan includes an 18-month list of road resurfacing and bridge repair and replacement projects. New construction projects would come later.
The 18-month list of projects includes resurfacing more than 2,500 miles of roads, replacing 118 deteriorating bridges and repairing 300 others, improving 109 intersections and widening 36 stretches of highway from two to four lanes.
The state is also launching an accountability website that will allow people to track spending and progress on projects in their areas.
