Cracks found in the third set of locks at the Panama Canal expansion project are said to be caused by the lack of steel reinforcement and securing of other structures. The Grupo Unidos port el Canal, the consortium leading the project, is mending the cracks and says that it won't delay the Canal's planned opening in April 2016.
