The New York chapter of the American Council of Engineering Companies awarded Satterfield & Pontikes the Diamond Award in the Special Projects category.

Satterfield & Pontikes Construction Inc. (S&P) were awarded the Diamond Award in the Special Projects category from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) New York for its work on Delta’s New Terminal C at the LaGuardia Airport.

S&P is an ENR top 400 company and offers a full range of preconstruction, construction and consulting services to both public and private clients. The company, begun in 1989, provides a number of delivery methods, including General Contracting, Construction Manager at Risk and Design-Build. S&P is considered an innovator in construction management systems and has pioneered numerous technological advancements across its solid portfolio of wide-ranging projects, including healthcare, education, transportation, commercial, government, commercial and industrial. The S&P family of companies comprises seven specialty construction subsidiaries including Eagle Contracting, Rollcon, Westway Construction, Greco Structures, Pontikes Development, Rocket Concrete Pumping and Prolégo. In addition to its headquarters in Houston, S&P has offices in Dallas, Austin and in San Antonio and business units in New York and Los Angeles.

Diamond Awards are presented to projects that encompass both the public and private sector in the following categories: studies, research, and consulting services; building/technology systems; structural systems; surveying and mapping technology; environmental; waste and storm water; water resources; transportation; energy; industrial and manufacturing processes and facilities; and special projects.

Each year, over 50 member firms submit projects that are judged on a rigorous set of criteria, which includes complexity, innovation and value to society. These projects are judged by a panel of industry experts, which includes military and government officials, ACEC National and International leadership, educators from college and university engineering departments, and leadership from other organizations dedicated to the built environment.

Awards are distributed based on the average scores received by these judges and are assigned one of four levels Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond - with Diamond being the highest-level award.

Terminal C offers customers the option to check-in via a spacious, centralized lobby, a multi-sensory room for customers with sensory sensitivities and their families, a cargo DASH office, art pieces showcasing six local artists, and a wide variety of retail and restaurants.

In addition to its grand appearance, Terminal C was LEED Silver-certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) by the U.S. Green Building Council. Multiple sustainable elements were incorporated throughout including LED lighting, exterior glass that automatically tints based on the weather and time of day, charging for electric ground support equipment, and an ice-making plant that produces ice during off-hours to cool during the day, reducing power demand during peak periods.
