The seventh annual National Pavement Expo West, which will be held Nov. 15-17 in Las Vegas, boasts 20 new educational sessions, including a first-time half-day program hosted by the Asphalt Institute.

A regional trade show and conference program that is a sister show to National Pavement Expo, NPE West is aimed at paving and pavement maintenance contractors in the western United States.

"NPE West was developed to help contractors out west grow and improve their business," says Loretta Miles, show manager for both NPE West and NPE. "The show offers contractors an opportunity to learn more and gives equipment, tool, and material producers an opportunity to connect face-to-face with their West Coast customers."

Asphalt Institute leads new sessions
This year's NPE West features a new half-day program (Thursday, Nov. 15) co-sponsored by the Asphalt Institute in conjunction with NPE West. The session, titled "Essentials of Mix and Maintenance," is designed to help contractors quickly get up to speed on the fundamentals of hot mix asphalt materials and "best practices" for the repair and maintenance of asphalt pavements.

Included among the other new educational sessions are 14 seminars covering a broad variety of business management topics. Brad Humphrey, Pinnacle Development Group, presents five new sessions, including "Salary, Raise & Bonus Programs to Retain and Motivate Employees."

Guy Gruenberg, Rose Paving, also presents two new topics including "Revving Up Your Sales Engine," a new three-hour workshop developed specifically for the paving and pavement maintenance industry.

Among the new technical sessions, "Essentials of Parking Lot and Driveway Paving," by John Ball, Top Quality Paving, focuses on paving tips, techniques, and job planning for off-road paving jobs; and "Identifying, Preventing, and Solving Mat Problems" by Jim Scherocman, consulting engineer, is designed for on-the-job troubleshooting for paving contractors.
