Caterpillar has introduced a heavy-duty configuration for the Cat 325 Excavator designed to improve stability, control and performance in demanding terrain. The model includes standard 2D grade, lift and payload technologies intended to help operators work more efficiently.

A long heavy-duty undercarriage with 203-millimeter track pitch increases stability on uneven ground often found in site prep, land clearing and forestry work. An optional blade can assist with backfilling and helps keep the machine steady on slopes.

The excavator uses a 7.5-ton counterweight to enhance balance when paired with attachments such as a blade, variable angle boom, heavy-duty stick, thumbs or a quick coupler. The new setup can be equipped with Reach or Variable Angle Boom fronts and arrives from the factory with a thumb-ready stick and quick coupler circuit.

Caterpillar reports that stability is comparable to the 325 equipped with an 8.3-ton counterweight. Larger final drives increase drawbar pull for better climbing, and higher swing torque helps maintain performance on inclines. The compact radius design allows the machine to work in tight spaces while still delivering heavy-duty capability.

An electrohydraulic pump and main control valve work together to optimize power. Smart Mode adjusts engine output to match hydraulic demand, which can help reduce fuel use. Extended service intervals and fewer required filters are intended to lower maintenance needs, and ground-level checks keep daily inspections safer and faster.
