The Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority has revealed some of the design details for the planned two-mile Gordie Howe International Bridge, which will connect Detroit, MI, to Windsor, Ontario. According to the information released, once opened in 2020, the $2.1 billion six-lane bridge could by one of the five longest in North America and rise as tall as Detroit’s Renaissance Center.
Bridge officials are considering a suspension bridge or cable-stayed bridge design. Other design details released by authority officials include plans for two 750-ft. bridge towers and a 150-ft. bridge deck to allow for navigation.
