Egnyte has announced the release of its first artificial intelligence agents designed specifically for the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry. The new tools are built to streamline document-intensive tasks, helping firms reduce errors and improve efficiency on complex projects.

The AI agents are embedded into Egnyte’s platform to analyze project content securely. According to the company, the tools are intended to address common sources of project delays and cost overruns, such as mistakes in specification sheets or misinterpretations of building codes.

The initial release includes two distinct agents:

  • Specifications Analyst: This tool processes large specification documents, allowing users to extract key data and quickly locate information using filters for materials or specific sections. It can analyze single or multiple documents at once to aggregate spec data.
  • Building Code Analyst: This agent consolidates state, county and municipal codebooks into a single, unified source. It allows users to find, compare and check code requirements, automatically flagging any overlapping or contradictory provisions and linking to the source text.

"A single error in a spec sheet or misinterpretation of a building code can lead to significant project delays and cost overruns," said Amrit Jassal, co-founder and chief technology officer at Egnyte. "These AEC AI agents fundamentally reduce project risk and help firms to deliver better, more profitable outcomes.”

The agents can access information from both a company’s secure Egnyte repository and public internet sources to ensure outputs reflect the most current codes and amendments.
