The Slag Cement Association (SCA) announces that slag cement shipments in 2016 exhibited a 12 percent growth over 2015.

“Those of us in the concrete industry have long known that the use of slag cement increases the strength and durability of concrete at a reduced environmental impact,” says Ed Griffith, President, Slag Cement Association. “I am pleased that this 12 percent increase in shipments represents the strength of our economy and the increased understanding of the benefits of slag cement in the design, specification, and construction communities.”

Additionally, the SCA will be presenting the Slag Cement Project of the Year Awards at the American Concrete Institute’s Convention on March 28, 2017, in Detroit, Mich.  The awards will recognize eight projects from across the United States in the categories of architectural design, concrete durability, green design, high performance, innovative applications, and sustainability. Award winners include a wide variety of projects including airports, buildings, residences, highways, and stadiums.

The Slag Cement Association represents companies that produce and ship slag cement (ground granulated blast furnace slag) though the USA. The Slag Cement Association serves as the leading source of knowledge for slag cement and slag blended cements through promotion, education, and technology development.
