Construction Workers Walk Off Tesla Gigafactory Protesting Out-of-state Hiring

Local Carpenters Union protesting against nonunion third-party construction contractor's use of out-of-state laborers

At least 100 workers have walked off the job earlier this week at the Tesla Motors Inc. battery factory near Reno, NV. According to an union official the workers are protesting on third-party construction contractor's hiring of out-of-state workers.

According to Tesla, a the workers are protesting a nonunion contractor who Tesla says is employing more than 50% Nevada workers.

Tesla has not said how the walkout is affecting construction work at the site.
