BASF’s Construction Chemicals and Performance Materials divisions in North America can now provide LEED v4-compliant Manufacturer Inventory Reports that satisfy requirements for Building Product Disclosure and Optimization – Material Ingredients, Option 1. BASF’s Product Compliance Management Process was recently audited and certified by a third-party organization, GreenCircle Certified, LLC (GreenCircle), to ensure independent authentication of the company’s environmental claims.
“This certification provides architects, designers and LEED project teams with the information needed to make educated decisions regarding the products they use in the design and execution of structures,” said David Green, Sustainability Analyst, BASF Construction Chemicals. “We deliver transparent information about our products, and support the industry’s efforts to deliver healthy, sustainable solutions for the built environment.”
“BASF is a first-mover in helping the sustainable construction industry contribute to earning points within the updated, more rigorous, LEED v4 standard,” said Annie Bevan, Vice President, Certification Services, GreenCircle Certified, LLC. “As the largest chemical producer in the world, they have set the bar for clarity and integrity in the industry.”
This certification makes BASF the largest provider of LEED v4 Manufacturer Inventory Reports. These reports are available for chemical admixtures, concrete repair and protection systems, foam insulation systems, flooring systems, performance grouts, underground construction products, waterproofing and sealants, expansion control systems, and wall systems.
The reports also adhere to requirements of the Globally Harmonized System for the Classification and Labeling of Chemicals, and are equivalent in LEED v4 to Health Product Declaration, Cradle to Cradle, Manufacturer Inventory Reports using GreenScreen benchmark evaluation, and Declare.
GreenCircle has audited and verified that BASF’s internal Product Compliance Management System assesses the hazards of all the ingredients that make up the product, including impurities. GreenCircle utilized these results to certify that the Manufacturer Inventory reports meet the LEED v4 Material Ingredient, Option 1 reporting requirements.
